To the artist: Holy deity of choice. This is certainly one of the most remarkable works I've seen from anybody with a mod's pick in a long time, and I'm surprised this didn't pick up the honor. Critically speaking, the warmth and cold of the two frames plays off beautifully, and the contrasting shades are just perfect. The detail is wonderfully rendered and historically appropriate, not to mention a lot of fun to look at. On a personal note I love the flow of the serpent design at either side of the doors, and the metalwork on the brazier. Hrothgar (at least, who I take to be him) and his guard are both arrayed well, and I like the drinking-horn. The whole design and composition is brilliant, you've executed it perfectly; if this isn't under glass, it needs to be. | |
