Tag As FavoriteComment		Sparks light within the circle of stones as the pixes gather. Vines twist with the trees that hum with power, closing the gathering area to outsiders. The dancer wears an expression of desperation, for the task at hand is a daunting one. One must dance, flow, with all soul (and a bit of magic) for the Fire Blossom to fully bloom. Many have tried before this dancer, and several have even accomplished enough of the task to begin a bloom. But in over two centuries, none have succeeded. There is a fine line between dancing fully with one's own fire and overcompensating. Will this Dancer prove worthy, or die trying, in the blaze?

I hope to paint this digitally some day. My only real regret is starting the drawing slightly too far down the page, so the bottom of the dancer's garments are cut off.

Green col-erase (removed in photoshop) and graphite pencil, 2002.

Great picture! The concept reminds me of Garth Brooks's song, "Standing outside the fire". At least, I think that's what it was called.
