SciFi and Fantasy Art Demonsbane by Liz Chesterman

My MGC entry for the month of May. Fantasy gargoyles. I was inspired to do a picture of a gargoyle Herald Vanyel Ashkevron from The Last Herald Mage series by Mercedes Lackey. Excerpts from Demonsbane, by Mercedes Lackey and Firebird Arts follow.

The clouds of black have lifted; upon the barren ground Stands Vanyel hurt, but victor, the demons tied and bound. He looks down on Lord Nedran; his eyes grow cold and bleak-- 'Now shall I give you, Nedran, the power that you seek--'

Now Vanyel frees the demons, and Nedran screams with fear, He sets them on the Karsites, who had first brought them here. He sets them on the Karsites, and on the Karsite land. They look down on Lord Nedran. They do not stair their hand.

'I am the bane of demons, who flees them I defend. Thus Heralds serve a foeman--thus Heralds save a friend!'

This is an awsome pic of work...and considering I love the Last Herald Mage series...well...that just makes me love it all the more. ^_^ I think you've done a great job on 'Gargoyle Van'...and I just can not praise you enought for how wonderful I think this drawing is. Great job. ^_^

22 Sep 2005	Stephanie E Johnson	Loading... Wow! This is a gorgeous picture. Vanyel as a white demon, the Karsites would love this. Sorry. It's a really awesome picture, I wish I could draw so well. My pictures are "cute" not emotional and thought provoking like this. I'm a Lackey fan too.

10 Nov 2005	Serami Nefera	Loading... This is an excellent picture. I think this shows the Karsite view very well. Maybe this is what Karal was thinking of when Firesong said that he was wondering if they could bring Vanyel, Stefen, and Yfandes up.
