A crystal drop, a gift divine,

A diamond bead of dew,

A silver path, an angel’s tear

Is what I shed for you.

I came when you called out for me,

I held you when you cried,

I helped you through your darkest night,

I never left your side.

I had my heart to comfort yours,

My light a beacon strong.

I had my wings to shield your world

Whenever things went wrong.

But worlds turn on, as worlds must do,

Your world, it turned away.

You spoke not to your angel friend,

Your hurts you would not say.

Your trust now gone, my wings weighed down

With feathers made of lead.

My light too dim to guide you home,

My heart, it cracked and bled.

And now, though I have healed my hurts,

Our worlds are not so near.

So take my final gift to you

A single angel’s tear.

:21woon:: So beautiful! I love how you convey so much emotion with your words, your talent is boundless! On a side note, I posted a second angel poem, wasn't sure if you'd seen it or not - I'd love your feedback.

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Thanks. I'll make sure I stop by and have a look."

*faery stops and reads* *faery's eyes dim* *glaze over* this is so sad... and so powerful! How can you put so much emotion into your words? This is a breathtakingly beautiful poem, and that is as sincere as I can get! *sniffs* even the title is beautiful...

Oh, and a little afternote, I would like to say that you seem like a really nice person, because of your feedback, and it makes me sad that someone so nice should have feelings to write a poem like this!

*faery bows and leaves an aura for inspiration filled with stardust*

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Why... thank you. I really don't know what to say. It seems like a long time since I wrote this poem, yet it is nice to see that people still enjoy it.Again I should mention that this was not a poem I wrote about my pain but about someone very dear to me. I hope that in some small way it has done their feelings justice"

Thank you endlessly for leaving such wonderful comments on my stuff...and, happily, I had a moment to read some more of yours and return the favor! This is so sweetly sad, it could be nothing but a poem. And the ryhmes don't sound cheesy! =) Always a plus!

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Firstly I would not have left wonderful comments if they weren't deserved.Secondly thank you for coming back to return the favour. A friend of mine once said I should write for Hallmark, so I sometimes worry that my poetry is overly sentimental or a little cheesy (although I'm sure that's not what they meant). So thanks again for the feedback"

This is a lovely poem - beautiful imagery and nicely held meter, which is a rare and precious thing these days. I love the way you begin and then again round out the poem with the mention of the tear, and the leaden feathers in the middle stanza were a pretty, evocative touch. Kudos on this one!

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Thankyou. I'd probably have to agree about the meter part. I've read a few poems that don't get it quite right and just leave me cringing. So I have to say that I am pretty happy with this one. The imagery was easy once I'd gotten the theme."

This is just so exquisite and so sad I had to read it twice. Beautiful! I really, really like it!

I love those lines!! The whole poem is absolutely stunning!! I wish I had a talent like you call your own... I love your writing! ^^

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "They are probably some of my favourite lines too, although I always find it hard to think about my work in terms of favourites.I'm very glad that you liked the poem so much, and I think you're own talent is nothing to be sneezed at, particularly in consideration of the fact that English is not your first language. I thought that "the Path" was the best of your poetry and I really admired the way that you created a story throughout it. My own poetry tends to be on the short side as you can see!Good luck with your own writing!"

::reads then rereads about 8 times:: That was incredible! I wish that I could write like that! ::reads again and becomes speechless::

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "How do I know that you don't write better than this? Maybe you do and you just don't realise it! After all, all it takes is a little imagination and a lot of practice. If you decide to put some of your work up on the internet, make sure you let me know so I can come and take a peek!Still I am glad that you liked it so much. It has to be one of my better poems. "

Oh, how lovely! This poem flowed so smoothly, and the story it told was beautiful, if sad. Wonderful job!

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Thank you. I wish all of my poems turned out as well as this one has!"

Beautiful does not describe this accurately.
Stunning doesn't seem to fit the emotion.
Deeply touching some how is not quiet the deep of touch.

Sweetheart, your gift transcends.

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Thank you. Your words mean a lot to me. I had a feeling you'd like this one."

That was beautiful...*Wipes tears* I found this poem synonymous with the relationship between parents and children. When you read twice, you can actually feel the similarity.

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Wow, you know I never thought about it that way before, but you are right. Thank you so much for giving me new insight into my own work. That's a rare and precious gift."
