His skin was bronzed- a golden sheen-

His hair of molten hue.

His eyes were ever sharp and keen,

And of the brightest blue

To us, though, he was never vain,

The Banshees’ reckless master.

Taught us all, “Work hard and train

Be smarter, stronger, faster.

Always hold your head with Pryde,

And heed this part of all-

When standing at another’s side,

Heed only your heart’s call.”

But though his words were wise and true

He was a puzzling case-

Of elvenkind there are but few

Who always hide their face.

Still, this elf girl took his advice-

At least one tiny part-

Although she paid a heavy price,

She followed her own heart.

Oh...very nice! I am not a huge poetry fan most of the time, but having read Awakenings, this was wonderful! As I was reading I could see the scenes you have done so far and the bit of forshadowing about Ariel following her heart was nicely done.

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "LOL. Well the jury is still out as to whether Ariel truly follows her heart or not. I guess you will be able to judge for yourself, if I put up those diary entries of hers. And thank GOD someone finally commented on this! I was beginning to think it would be doomed to have no comments like some of the other pieces up around here! I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me what you thought of it. I don't do poetry very often any more (I seemed to work most of it out of my system last year) but I thought that Ariel might."

Poems. There are those that can write 'em, and those that can't. I can't. You can.
Damn.

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Poetry is only about the emotion you put into it, not whether it rhymes or has consistent rhythm or not.And besides, you have some fine pieces up on your shelf without them being poetry. I particularly liked "Forgive me father for I have sinned..." Very creepy."

You are the most beautiful writer I have ever met. Seeing as I've never met you, and I can picture what your perfect Karma must look like, I'm just honored to read your work. Keep it up, please!

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "LOL, my Karma is very far from perfect, let me assure you, but I am flattered that you think so.To be honest I am completely astounded by the reaction to this story.I have a mailing list for updates if you are interested in joining"

*faery walks in and snoops around* *looks up startled* didn't see you there! ^.^

Hello then! My name is Bryn, and this little buddy here *pats faery on the head* is my little muse that follows me everywhere! I still have yet to name her, the poor little thing...

Now off to the commenting! This is a very nice poem, you kept the rhythm and prose for every line, which is difficult, yet none were forced and all sounded natural! It has a cute little story behind it, to follow one's own heart... I have written one like that, but I have to put it up soon, I am still in the stage of revision! ^.^

But again, this is a beautiful first poem, other than the one in your bio which was of course nicely written as well! But now I and my faery must take your leave to go and read more poems! *skips off with the little faery tagging along*

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Thankyou Bryn. It was nice to meet you and your fairy. I confess I don't write as much poetry as I used to, but I am glad that you enjoyed it. I hope we'll see you back again some time"

Ooh, like. Can't think of a reason, it's just good. :21hrug:: But I like Ariel and the Lionar as well.

La la la la la la la la la la . . . . . . . .

[Creeping along........................]

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Just the fact you took the time to say you liked it is good enough for me. Thanks for dropping by"

I really like your description in the first stanze--just gorgeous! And the last stanza made for such a sweet, even poignant closing. Quite nice.

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "I thought it might be a good idea to include a little "background" about the Lionar in the poem for those who aren't really familiar with Awakening.I'm really glad you enjoyed this one. It was just something I whipped up while waiting for my bus one day, but it was a bit of a challenge to get every line to rhyme."

That was really cool! I just wish I know what happened. O well. On to the next one!

:-) Elizabeth Fitzgerald replies: "Ariel's story can be found further down, under the title of 'Awakening'.Thanks for stopping by and I am glad that you enjoyed it so much."

This was a lovely little poem ^_^ I'm horrible with meter and all that jazz, so I can't offer any constructive crit even if it needs it, which it probably doesn't!

It does have me curious about this 'Awakening'... ^_~
Nice job!
