Fenrir, the wolf-shaped spawn of darkness from Norse mythology. Even before the dawn of man, his strength grew so immense that it frightened the gods, so they devised a plan to get rid of him. They asked the dwarf masters to make silk-like bindings from several strange ingredients, including the beard of women, the roots of mountains and the saliva of birds, and the result was indestructible. Unsuspecting, Fenrir allowed himself to be bound by the silky ropes; at first he though it was a joke... but to his dismay, the ropes withstood his immense power, and he was trapped-deep inside the bowels of the Earth. Today he is still there, shaking in agony once in a while, causing great earthquakes in the visible world... but the End of Days is drawing near, when the wolf will finally break his bonds and, allied with his monstrous brothers, destroy the gods of man once and for all.

I like all the textures and details and rhythms you put into your stuff. You have a good eye for design. 2

Not his fault he's so evil... and cute. ^^ Love it. Especially that glowing green eye. It reminds me of a saying that a person said about killing wolves.. they said: (this isn't an actual quote, I'm getting as close as I can) "After we shot at the pack I went up to collect my bounty and I looked into her eyes... I saw a green fire, the fire of the mountain and I watched it slowly die out." The guy said he never shot another wolf after that.

Looks great, Fenrir looks furious, which is exactly how he should look considering his capture. I also love the energy, like he’s been a coiled spring, waiting for the moment his bonds break. A relly great piece. And the wolf binding post that he’s been tethered to is a fantastic visual piece of art.

What i’d like to see though is the background in black, with Fenrir a barely discernable shape in the foreground. Maybe the only way you can make him out is by candles burning in ancient carved niches in the rocks. Candlelight glistening across his fur and reflecting in his eyes. Would be great. Thats the only downside to this piece. To maintain the detail that you obviously pride yourself in, you’ve had to swap the dark underworld for a white space to show it off.

Still, an excellent drawing full of anger, energy and frustration.

this is not true Ragnarök has already happened and when that happened he broke lose and the wolves ate the sun and the moon and his brother the snake fought Thor and they both died and to make a long story short only 4 dudes survived and remade the earth greener and more beautiful than it was luckely the sun had a daughter that was no less pretty than her mom this is according to all I’ve read about this in books and wikipedia...

Just thought i should let you know about some factual errors in the text.

nr1. Fenrir was not born before men, he was the offspring of Loki and Angurboða (bad news bearer). and was born after the creation of miðgarður (Middle earth) and man.

nr.2 Fenrir is not bound in the bowels of the earth, the rope was bound to the roots of a mountain but Fenrir stays above ground. It is Loki who is bound in a cave deep beneath the surface. He is bound with the bowels of one of his son and a snake hangs above him dripping poison onto his face. His wife sits there with a bowl catching the poison and when it fills up she goes away to empty it, when she is away the poison lands on Lokis face and he shakes so violently that he causes earthquakes.

nr.3 Fenrir has two full sibling, Miðgarðsormur (middle earth worm) and Hel (she is female), when he brakes free during the great battle both he and his brother the worm die. All men except two and all the Gods except Baldur who is back from the dead and his brother Höður and their siblings, they will start a new earth with the two remaining humans.

Fun trivia J.R.R Tolkien named his Middle earth in Lord of the rings after the Middle earth in Nordic mythology.
