Note: This is a series of about 20 pics done with cheap blue ballpoint pen. Yup... They're basically motion studies involving these mountain unicorns that have little in common with the white fluffy innocent thingies usually referred to as unicorns. They are big (about the size of a heavy workhorse), the stallions are very heavily built-about twice as bulky as the mares-and they have wicked teeth, sharp horns, deadly hooves and thick, mostly mud-colored hair with black markings that serve the purpose of camouflage. They are also aggressive, territorial and...well, basically as wild animals are. The series involves a lot of socialising, playfights between yearlings, simple studies of canter/trot etc. but I tried to select those that are a bit more interesting.

This is a fully grown, typical lead stallion overlooking his territory. Winter's in the air... He has already grown a thicker coat that will protect him in the freezing months to come.

Hooray for ballpoints! There's just something intoxicating about those cheap little pens.

You've taken ballpoint to a whole new level. The level of shading that you managed to accomplish is just amazing.

The shapely musculature and the bold face of this stallion convey such strength but it's his stately pose that caps it for me. Awesome work!

A wonderful concept of a unicorn. I love the series and think it is very powerful. Can't wait to see more.

A-ha, so I was right, they ARE done in pen. Okay, good. Just makin' sure 1.

The look in his eye just captures his essence so well. He's such a powerful, majestic creature.

And er, I really like the little tree thing in the corner, too. I always like the most random things about your drawings 10.

Love this drawing its now my background on my computer at home in my moms basement where I live. The sun really makes the drawing balance out. The pure majesty of this noble steed is unmatched by any other I have seen! ever!
