For me he doesn't look bored but very tired after playing or running till exhaustion just for fun (like my dog after a good walk and a lot of other dogs to play with).

He's fallen asleep from pure boredom. But now, it looks as if he's having a dream...(note the paw extended) He resembles a kitten, reaching out towards a non-existant ball
of string within his dream. Or maybe he was in the middle of
reaching for some food (maybe some people, for instance) and was so tired he just fell asleep!
