Ok next newest update. The big swords, and when I mean big I mean big the average picture length was 14 inches long, ug. Almost all of these were requests and even my first commission picture!

Garnak. Ok when I got the request for this one didn’t take me too long because they gave me a lot of room to work but also had a very simple designs. The sword was to be massive, 5 feet long blade, two feet wide and one foot pommel. It works out to that roughly. And yes I know it looks like Gatsu’s sword from Berserk that was not my intention at all but it came out looking close to it.

Sorrow’s Calm. Ok this one was one of the first swords I drew in my new pad and overall size was 14 and a half inches long. It is a simple sword my wife says it reminds her of a roman style sword, it does appear that way but the sword when used by someone would be at least a 4 foot blade length followed by a large pommel. I like this design simple yet strong.

Geo. Another request piece, this one was to have a lot of powers hence and they wanted to get the blade to look like it reflects them. They are as follows, thunder, ice, lightning and fire.

El Gathor. This is m first attempt at a claymore, I think I got close to it. anyways they just wanted a huge claymore with an elegant but blocky cross piece and this is what I came up with.

I hate them, They would suck in combat

:-) Joshua Doten Davids replies: "Well not very constructive but in fact two of the designs great sword and claymore have been used quite successfully in combat the other two are pure fantasy designs with magic and demons in mind and not to be made in the real world, I did screw up on the pommel of one but that is why they say practice makes perfect and I have yet to be perfect in anything."

Not bad drawings. the bottom two are the most realistic, but with the handles are to small. they would have to have strength in the upper most of the handle, or they would just double over, or assuming it was a scantly tempered handle, it would snap. also, the hilts are to wild and fantasy oriented, no cross-guard was ever made like that, for the reason simple reason that is would be damn near impossible, unless made by a machine. the top one wouldn't last a second, and I know someone already said this, but you could make it more realistic by adding a a large fuller, heavier pommel, and a wide, bowed handle. The second one wouldn't be a bad sword, but it would need a bowed handle, make it one handed instead of what looks like a 1 1/2 hand grip from traditional Irish and Scottish blades. Just thought I'd let you know.

I like the pics a lot. The top one doesnt actually remind me of Gattsu so much as it does of Fu Xi's sword from Dynasty Warriors. Gattsu's is more of a huge slab that doesnt even get slimmer as it goes on. Fu Xi's looks very similar to that, if not closely identical. Well, slash the extra designs. Great job, I would love to have something in real life resembling the top two. I'm just a big sword kinda guy.
