| 13 Jan 2005 | Hermy | Loading...hum..I forgot to write the story I had in mind for this weapon: It's owner is a fire elf (I don't like the idea of elves being perfect) that rides a dragon and fights in the 'bad army' as a captain. His story starts in a small village that the army of the 'good ones' conquer. The soldiers kill all the rebels and steal their money, use their children as slaves and take the women as wives. His father and his friends where killed in front of his eyes.He escaped by miracle, but his eyes where wounded and lost his eyesight. He wondered in the forest until he reached the house of a blacksmith with no children that was an ancient warrior and wants to forget his past. The blacksmith cures the boy and teaches him to forge weaponry, until one night he boy finds an armor (I said that he finds it, not sees it..) in a secret place that also hides a beautiful sword and other weapons. He asks his adoptive father, that he loves more then his real one because his real father always preferred his elder brother (I know..it does sound faramir-denethor), what does this mean and his father tells him about his troubled past.He lost his friends and the women he loved in war and does not want the boy to become a warrior to avenge his village. But the boy insist and he gives in.ok..it's a bit cliché: the boy asks his 'father' to teach him to fight and masters the skills of the past, becoming an awesome warrior. He fights alone against the 'good army' that calls him 'The Deadly Freak' (they cannot get over the fact that a blind young boy can fight and win ten of their warriors..) until he teams up with a young girl and her lover..one night he creates this weapon that will accompany him through lost of battles... well...I hope I created a good story for your weapon, now I will go and check out your other drawings, bye! | |

| 5 Feb 2005 | Jason Wade Spittler | Loading...Well the first thing I see when I look at this spectacular weapon is the fact that, personally, I think it would look better in a vertical position with the grip facing up. This view on my part would also illustrate the vision I obtained of the blade as I viewed it. If you rotate the picture a quarter turn clockwise, or simply bend your neck to the left and view the weapon sideways, it seems to possess its own soul and personality that tells its own story. Viewed in this manner the cross guard seems to form an animalistic snout and eyes-while the hilts appear to be the creatures ears. I have no idea what they are called (here I depart from personal knowledge of weapons since I am not as intimately familiar with katar), but the blades extending away from, and on either side of, the handle express to me the upward thrust of a set of horns. The blade of the weapon itself seems to be an extension of the snout, or an elongated muzzle. When the blade bites into the flesh of its user’s target, the creature within is feeding in an abstract, allegorical manner. This would/could be analogical to the view that the common sword of ancient times was phallic in nature, with the penetration of its blade into the body of an enemy synonymous, subconsciously, with control and dominance of others through degradation, rape, and other forms sexual manipulation. Thus this has the potential through appearance alone, if one shares my visual perspective, to be a horrible and vilely evil weapon. I have found that the Gaelic of my ancestors is rather useful in making words and names for various things in fantasy-sci-fi writing, and would be glad to lend my experience to you in this form. Perhaps this for the creature/weapon’s name-anam goile=Anam’goile; roughly “Soul Eater” or “Consumer of Souls”. Just a thought… | |
