This picture reminded me of them except that it had wings and feet. I think that the birds of paradise are birds (without wings or feet) that always fly towards the sun, but I might have that wrong. Becky Camfield replies: "Birds of paradise is a group of birds found on Papua New Guinea and they all rather brightly coloured and with fancy feathers.
The myth is based on these birds and how they were first transported back to Europe. The native hunters use to remove the skull thus causing head to skrink and they chopped off the feet. Thus the dead specimens sent back to europe made people think they had very small heads, balloon like bodies and no feet. thus they must be from paradise/heaven and feed on nectar. >.> " | |
