This picture is my half of an art trade with one of my favourite artists. Namely one Gilda Rimessi:

Gilda drew me as a puppy girl. Her art is fabulous. Go see her gallery!
Gilda is a gorgeous Italian girl with very exotic features so I drew her as a Tuscan wine faerie. This is my first attempt to draw a woman with short hair, as hair is sometimes a crutch for me, and I found that I really enjoyed it! I adore short hair and I think it takes a brave woman who is confident in her looks to bob off her tresses.
I had fun mixing mediums on this picture. It is done in coloured pencil, ink, and watercolour. The background is stolen from an old (public domain!) Art Nouveau piece that I re-drew and added my own touches to. I have a fetish for Art Nouveau. It takes a lot more work than most people realize to get all those curvy, flourishy, flowery things to work right.

It's a gorgeous picture...but couldn't you draw a very very skinny one too? like skeletal almost...? Full figured women have very nice shapes, but bones can define the beauty of a body.

:-) Donna Bond replies: "Let's see.... hmmmm.. how about HELL EMPHATICALLY NO! I do not draw anorexic people and I do not draw grossly obese people. I will draw normal and chubby and that is about it. Trust me, there are TONS of amazing artists already drawing extremely thin people. I don't feel the need to compromise myself because it isn't a void that needs filling."

This is fabulous. U will hear me say in all your pic.s probably how vibrant and wonderful the colors r. I love colorful pictures. 1 And she has a VERY nice tush there. ;-) I agree with u on short hair. I never liked it on myself, but the women that can make it work, I admire them. 1 I look too boyish with short hair. Or at least, I did the last time I had it. Age 12. LOL. 8 yrs ago. Wow. *tries to forget those days* LOL. Though now that I look back, it was easier having short hair playing softball. >< LOL. Anyway... I also like art noveau. Love this pic., simply. Tho it didn't turn out to be a simple comment huh? LMAO. Sorry. *winces*

:-) Donna Bond replies: "Thank you!! I sure wish I had the kind of face that looked good with short hair. I would chop it all off in a heartbeat if I did. Maybe get a pixie cut."

I can't figure out why people keep wanting you to do thin faeries. Uck. It's boring by now.
I love Art Nouveau as well.. I think it's actually a strong point for me. lol I think I'm going to start doing more work like that in the future.

:-) Donna Bond replies: "Art Nouveau is both fun and challenging. It took me a while to figure out how to make certain elements work together."

Yay! I lopped mine of with the kitchen scissors while my parents were at a dinner party! And she is a gorgeous voluptous fairy.

This woman is way too fat to be wearing so little!
