SciFi and Fantasy Art ´Helmbrecht´ by Oliver Booms

He's Nils' player character from a fantasy campaign which we finished earlier this year. I did sketches of the other characters, too, but Helmbrecht's was the first I did - and my favourite sketch, too, so I'm upping this first. As a matter of fact, he started out as a knight, shining armour and all, but, umm, he got this 'condition', which made him give up the knighting and pick up depression and alcoholism as a replacement. The rest of the party are a fun bunch, too...

13 Mar 2001	Christopher 'Topher' Allen Shepard	Loading... It's amazing to me how you can create a "silken sheen" on his cloak like that, using ink and cross hatching techniques. Again that facial expression is mesmerizing. Your work needs to be displayed in some RPG magazines, now.In fact it's one of the few images I used a model for... myself posing in front of the mirror in a bathrobe wielding a broomstick... Don't try this at home, in all probability it will make you look like a weirdo.

16 Apr 2002	David Nash	Loading... It's truly a beautiful picture. My only complaint is the blade of the sword. It looks like you got carried away with the pattern of light and dark to denote reflectiveness and the shape of the blade. On the other hand, you have guys like me who leave the blades underdefined. L Overall, though, very very good.
8 Feb 2003	Lisa Coleman	Loading... I have to agree with the comment on the sword. It looks to me like an odd, striped square blade. I do love the composition, with the hand spilling out over the bottom edge. I love that kind of thing!
