	Illustration for a short piece of fiction; the tale of a bard's audience with a despotic ruler. I considered using this as a kind of framing piece for further written material... kind of like the Arabian Nights...

I like the mood and atmosphere of this drawing; the bard defiantly and courageously faces the wrath of the despotic ruler even though he is against all odds. it's very tense. I also like the golden parchment paper you used to draw on, it makes me feel like the whole scene is set in a desert thousands of years in the past. Of course your detail is fantastic (good ol Rotring!), and so is the lighting in this pic. Great composition/layout and overall idea. You get a blue ribbon for this one.
26 May 2000	Volker Tripp	Loading... Wow, this one really does get a bit of atmosphere across. The colouring is perfect for the scene because it adds an ancient feel to it. The picture also has some sort of natural balance, I find. You made excellent use of focus and fore- and background here.
