His sword lay limp in his hand, the end scraping the dark earth. Fires raged around the two, the corpses of their dragons tangled together behind them. Hard tears streamed from his eyes, cutting through the grime caking his face. 'She was never yours,' he breathed. 'You should have known that you were gambling, that the price you pay is this.'

The other man wiped the blood from his mouth, and sneered. 'At least you don't have to live a lie. Knowing the woman you love is with another man. I just want my friend back.'

'You had a friend in her. You stole my life away from me and her with your desire. I knew you wanted her, and I let you stay. I trusted her with her choice of me. But you had to go and ruin it all,' he screamed. 'You had to go and ruin all of our lives. You were never her friend. A friend wouldn't have helped her do what she did to me... with you.'

He raised his sword slowly and leveled it at the sneering man. 'All three of us were happy once. But you had to change that. I never asked for this, but you force my hand. She is mine again, she is come back to me. And I will fix her. But you; you are out.'

'Not while I live.'

'I know.'
