'You and I are alike, you know. We are both misplaced, two girls who are lost in a world we'll never understand. Run back to Kansas. Grow old on your farm, and have a hundred babies. Bury the dog in your garden and forget all of this.

Now give me the slippers.'

This is Elphaba and Dorothy from the various books of Oz.

BWHAHAHAHA!! I'm in love. Seriously. I can just see Elphaba saying that quote. Wait? Does she say that in the book? I've never read it. Or seen the play, just bootlegs, But I'm possibly going to see Wicked when it comes over to this side of the Atlantic... That's right, I'm seeing it with Idina!Elphaba.

You did this perfectly in capturing The Witch's/ Elphaba's character. Dorothy is done very nicely too and has a new originality that peels away from the Julie Garland motion picture Dorothy. Very nicely done.

I think the previous commenter meant "Judy" Garland. Anyway, I love your Edward Gorey-like portrayel of Elphaba. I'm a huuuuge fan of both the book and the musical!

I love how you didn't show Elphaba's face. Was that an intentional reference to the illustrations in Gregroy Maguire's book, or did you just do that to show her mystique? Excellent picture, and great quote!

i am blown away, a beautiful picture, portraying the darkness that she is know for, but the quote really gives it feeling and describes it perfectily. This has character, keep it up! nice job

:-) Ryan Bourret replies: "I haven’t much to elfwood in the last few years. But if you look at the comments, you can see that this picture has been up since 2005. The video on Youtube is maybe a year old now. Anyways, I made an alt version of this pic with the black tendrils fully enveloping the whole picture. I actually made that alt version for a band who contacted me years ago, and wanted it for their album cover.

:-) Ryan Bourret replies: "She’s not green in the original book. She was made green for the movie."
