A few of you out there have asked 'Why break the angel?' Well, we all know the conventional image of an angel; white robes, a halo, full glorious wings, right?. But what if we break that image, literally. Forcefully make the angel incomplete. Break wings and limbs, remove facial features, and create cracks in the form. Now there is conflict between the broken angel in front of you and the completed angel you imagine. And conflict is inherently dramatic. Which means that when we break from convention and shine new light on a subject, a more powerful and interesting dynamic is created.

This is such an incredible concept...all of your broken angels reveal a plane of artistic creavity that I purely envy. This angel however, is the best, and it evokes such an amazing awe...The wrists through a broken halo seem to symbolize a (broken or incomplete) bondage, or perhaps the release of imprisonment. The proportions and over all simplicity of color is positively breathtaking, but the concept and description speak so much more strongly than any composition. Congratulations on a well deserved moderator's choice. I absolutely love this idea!

Neat idea. Though, why can't the angel be androgynous, or even non-conforming to our media's stereotype of what beautiful is?

The fact that it is unique and that she is imperfect makes the picture beautiful. Wonderful!

I would really like it if i could use your interpretation and angel picture as the background of my, myspace page. of course your name and whatever information would be there for all to see as well. I don't think i've ever seen or read an interpretation of life in general before..email me please?

I think the wings are amazing. They look like they could be complete, the way the edges are jagged like the feather edge would be. But at the same time you can clearly see they are incomplete and so small. To me the wrists inside the broken halo look trapped. The halo is broken, but still forms a circle around the wrists. This is such a deep picture! Omg, luff it!
