Braun replies: "Honestly I don't really understand exactly what this picture really symbolizes either, as with a lot of my art, the true meaning of the image eludes me, I'm just the messanger lol"
| 10 Sep 2002 | Bubble | Loading...This is a STUNNING piece I love your representation of Lilith and I love your strong use of blue -the shade is gorgeous. This is a very interesting piece aswell, there is lots to look at without it being confusing, which is my kind of art. You are very talented and I think your best art is your dark art but thats just my personal preference showing ). | |
| 10 Sep 2002 | Clayton Tait | Loading...now THIS is great. I love the designs in the back, I love your choice of colour and I love the figure's position. I could sit back and look at this picture for 20 min to try and unravel it. Nice nice. My favorite so far. | |
| 14 Sep 2002 | Tobab816 | Loading...Just to comment on the Neon Genesis Fan...the design in the background is the Tree of Life which comes from the Khabbalistic magic system of the ten spheres of Sephiroth(sephiroth stems form the same word as sapphire which means "radiance of God").
Neon Genesis Evangelion story is in essence based on heavily distorted/modified Khabbalistic mythology.
| 11 Feb 2004 | Timothy J. Chorley | Loading...Actually it's the Tree of Sephiroth (Systema Sephiroticum), not the Tree of Life. The Tree of Sephiroth was drawn by Athanasius Kircher in 1653, and the Tree of Life is far older. And actually, Anno made sure that nothing in EVA actually went against existing theological documents (except for the whole Third Impact thing, of course). Now, I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure Lilith does not feature in Kabbalism, so I can only assume that it's either a complete coincidence or a deliberate reference.
That said, it truly is a beautiful picture. One of the things I've never been particularly great at is getting the line of the jaw correct, but the shading you've used here is excellent, and it sets up the rest of the piece fantastically. The best part is undoubtedly the face, it captures a look of primitive defiance that only Lilith could have been capable of. A true masterpiece! Keep it up! ^_^
| 2 Nov 2005 | Kat | Loading...Hey this picture is awesome. I love the use of the tree of life in the background. I have studied kabbalah for a few years. My understanding of the tree of life is that it is kind of like a map to enlightenment. Each circle is a different name of god both male and female. Its really cool how you incorporated it into your picture. Even if you didnt do that on purpose it really works i really enjoy this picture. | |
