Subject: Nynaeve al'Meara witnesses the Forsaken Rahvin's death by balefire in Tel'aran'rhiod.

Source: The Fires of Heaven: 55, The Threads Burn

Thoughts: This took me a long time to do, since I went through three different perspectives before I settled on one that I thought appropriate. I wanted to include Moghedien in the picture; in the end I decided against it, but you can still see the a'dam leash trailing away. For the purists out there, I acknowledge that I took some artistic license with the scene. I know Nynaeve didn't have enough time to throw her hands up, and I doubt Rahvin saw what was coming or was able to get as close to Nynaeve as I have him depicted here. One point of difficulty was figuring out how to draw white balefire on a white background. The second thing was that as I was finishing up I remembered that Rahvin was a basically a charcoal briquette before being killed. So I looked up how burn victims generally look to get it right.

I pictured him as entirely encompassed by the Balefire, but this is impressive never the less. I like the look of utter shock on his face.

Very nice, I like the way that you showed the balefire working on him and all.

very nice attention to detail. i see you didnt forget to draw the fact that he was one very burt up dude, after rand and his little tiff. well actually it was Nyn who causes all the burning, when she and Mog (sorry for abreviation of names, but i cant remember howto spell them) snuck up on Rahvin and encased him in fire. hehe sneaky little girls.
very nice and keep up the good work. nice to see someone draw what i see so clearly when i read my favorite series. 1

I was just browsing through some old artwork on my favorite series when I found yours. Anyway as I look at this and try to picture what it would have been like if Rahvin HAD been hit like this. Imagine the lower torso and limbs splayed perfectly intact, without any burn marks on top of some tower in the palace (or wherever he was just before he "killed" Mat with lightning.) Pretty gruesome. I'd feel sorry for whatever palace servant had to clean him up.

Way hey! I love this bit, when Rahvin gets obliterated out of time by Rand! Typical WOT! You depicted it v.well.

Very nice. You've captured a particular moment and embued it with a real sense of drama.

I just read the scene of Rand annihilating Rahvin with balefire! The picture is creative enough to show us how balefire destroys the thread of time itself! AMAZING! His skin dissolves into thin air. It's like a photo! I imagined it hapening in the nick of time!
