Yup, it's a figure study, and yup it looked great before I scanned it

ack..bad evil, naughty scanner from hell! *thwaps it*..god knows I've got the same problem..but the high quality of the work is evident even through the problems. This is absolutely stunning. The light play on her skin, the draping. And it evokes a feeling in me, a strange longing...very beautiful, and tragic.

Great drawing! I know what happened in the scan, too-- You scanned this in color mode, even though it's a B&W drawing. Bad move, because you'll get those awful color splotches (as seen here) The trick is to place a black piece of card/artboard behind the picture while scanning as this reduces refected light that causes pixelization and "bleed through." Second, scan it in greyscale mode at 300 to 600 dpi, and you'll have no color splotches. Finally, use levels, curves, and/or Bightnes and Contrast to make the drawing stand out (this eliminates fade out). Lastly, resist the urge to sharpen the image, or keep what sharpening is done to a bare minimum. Sharpening creates excess noise (pixelization) when the file is jpged for the web and hinders the compression ratio. I hope this helps you out! 1 *thanks Mike, I have no idea how to any of this suff - but I'll expeiment. - Brian*

Now THIS is beautiful! Very mature lines and shading. You've done excellent work with the light. Simply beautiful...

I love this study also! I like the pose. She seems to be hesitant but curiouse at the same time. You can tell even with the poor scanning that it was great. I really love your contrast in all your pieces. the differences between light and dark. Its amazing

the potential shown is enough .. but have you considered using a different scanner to bring it online? a lot of people bitch about the quality of a scan.. yet never mention trying again with a different scanner. i dunno.. just bothers me. a lot of quality goes to waste because people give up so easy.

Excellent use of shadow and texture. The body is realistic and proportional. Very sexy.

She is beautifully drawn and the shading is excellent. Even though the scan is a bit rough. I would also change the name and call it Princesss in Waiting or something before it gets sensore....just a thought.
