The excessively dark shadows and background really help on that level, and the stylization of the pose. Interesting take on a unicorn. Almost looks like a deer (but for the tail, obviously). Very nice.

It’s like the creature is hiding in the shadows, barely seen...much different from the usual eye-drippingly gorgeous flowy-mane candyfluff of unicorns and related subjects. Eye candy has it’s place, but I do appreciate the difference in style here. Maybe those medieval artists saw something--there were more forests, long ago.
And in the rest of your art, your use of light color captures something most digital artists (ironically) miss: subtle glow and sparkle---glimmer. Do you work in physical media also?
Bravo in that respect! | |

Bret, has got immense artisitical depth, vision, spiced with wonderful flights of fantasy... The magic shes weaves is simply enchanting without a doubt. Therefore, her masterworks speak for themselves without any vain reproaches from the lesser endowed... The truly gifted are often martyred by the jealous and weak minded.
| 3 Dec 2009 | Cheyenne Summer Williams | Loading...This is beautiful...I like it when artists draw unicorns that don’t exactly look like a horse...I love horses, but I think this style is both more interesting and probably more realistic, if there were such creatures. | |
