Caisa M. Howerin

Caisa lives in sunny Florida, but still remembers fairy-tales told during long, dark winters in Sweden.

Born and raised in Sweden, I received my training in the fine arts at the Gerlesborg School, in Stockholm. After participating in several juried exhibits at the National Museum of Art and elsewhere, I had two individual shows in Stockholm. I came to Florida in 1987, exhibited my art here and became a member of American Pen Women, as well as a number of local art guilds. I did this in my spare time, while working during the day. I painted in water colors, and made line drawings in pen & ink. In 1998 I began to take evening classes in computer graphics. I eventually bought a MacIntosh computer, and am now doing most of my art in Adobe Illustrator, which I love for its crisp, clear lines and brilliant colors. My goal is to make a living on my art. I am interested in doing book illustrations, book covers and greeting cards.

The muted colors, fairies, guards, elfs, etc...are just as unique. My favorite is ’Elf Girl’ because I have a soft spot for Sunflowers for a very personal reason. ...But please, no more hanging birdies from trees (Guardian of the Forest) :0D I look forward in viewing more of your work. I love the feel of the style, its clean and modern but doesn’t make me think of skyscrapers but of Art Nouvea. Caisa M. Howerin replies: "Thanks Danielle. for your feedback on my computer work. It is rather different. I also like the style of Art Nouveau. Just wanted to introduce some variety by showing pictures made earlier, in other media. I was inspired by surrealism at the time. "
