Even though I can now draw a good figure without a reference I still prefer to use references. The woman in my piece was someone I hired to model for me. So many un-imagined details make up each individual, from little 'imperfections' to posture. But, If working from life or photographs is something you or your parents are uncomfortable with, Look into getting the Book by Jack Hamm, 'Drawing The Head & Figure'. A good book that even touches on fabric folds and is Under $15 U.S. even if you can use reference material, you should get this book. When drawing the human form, It's all about learning to see it as an image like a landscape, flower, deer or any of the Mother goddess' (Nature's, God's.....) other creations and not a reproductive toy (I refrain from the 'S' word for Elfwood) . Good start, keep it up. Caitlynn C. Didlick (Varda) replies: "Thanks!! i have been really listening to what you said and using it to make myself a better artist!" | |
