This is my interpretation of Yavanna from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Simarillion.  I used myself for the proportion and placement of parts on the body, it worked out well!

Nice job with the proportions and shading. The bark and leaves of the tree are also very nice. Good picture!

Hello Caitlynn, you have some very nice work here, but I like this one the best, you have made a lovely job of her dress, and I love the way the material flows, very nice shading as well. Your proportions are good, and I like the way she stands

Another nice concept to build on. I like the use of different plants around her dress. The composition is coming along nicely as well. A tip of a branch with a few leaves placed where the tree meets the top of the paper would help to pull the eye back into the drawing and onto the character. Take a piece of tracing paper and play with drawing some to see what it looks like. It is great that you are using yourself as a model, I do the same thing for many of my male figure works. I like the drape of the dress on the figure and the long hair down her back, the only issue is the left arm is too long. The palm of the hand should not extend below the groin area when in this upright position (Her palm is almost at mid thigh). I'm also not sure about the domed hill in the background. Remember that every element complements a piece when done well or detracts from it when not done well, so take your time with each element, they do not all need to be done in great detail (subtle suggestions work well too), but their effect can make all the difference in the finished piece. A nicely done piece though, you're doing well.

:-) Caitlynn C. Didlick (Varda) replies: "Yah, about the hill, i got a little carried away-i tend to do that alot with my artwork-and thank you for all the constuctive critism!!"
