This isn’t anything much, an ode to King Arthur done in English class. (12-18-02) I must give much of the credit to Ashley Burdo and her tri-forces for the first paragraph, I did the rest alone. It’s not poetic or anything, but I found it inspiring nonetheless. It’s pretty standard, yet I used a lot of Stephen R. Lawhead’s terminology.

An Ode to King Arthur

In the glass isle of Avalon, he sleeps. We wait for his coming, we wait, and wait. From the battlefield he did emerge, wounded and bloodied. The great Faery queens hath told of him within their vast silver towers. The majestic charlatan Merlin has struck his harp in song of Arthur’s impending return, but still, we wait.

The great King of Kings shall restore peace with the very aptitude of mind, or with the legendary Caliburnus. By the blade of his sword, a golden age shall thus ensue.  Wake him not! For in his deepest sleep he shall appear, within the forests and the lingering shadows. Thou shall not tarnish his golden brow nor his keen grey eyes, for all is to be revealed in due course. A faintest sight…Nay! An apparition! Within the daring range of spear throw he stands alone, tall and grim, eyes the color of the lowering sun, yet still, we wait.

This reminds me of the Arthur in 'I am Mordrid' you should really read it... it reminds me of the aruthian legends that say he stood alone and bloodied on the battle field while his son mordrid, fated to kill him, didn't kill him, and mordrid was killed and turned into a crow... you'd have to read the story to know what i am talking about, but geez you are good at writing in a medieval sense.
