The Fall of the Faery was meant to be about a treacherous Faery, but I couldn’t seem to write that. It turned out that the faerie was more of the victim. Shakespeare’s Ophelia was a model character for this. The faerie falls in love with someone who tricks her into being with him, and in the end, the Faerie queen takes her wings, and thus, her magik. - The Fall of the Faery -

In breath and light he was begot

Like pearls of pale or sunless jade

And not forthwith my love be told

A song so pure, fine serenade

I was afeared, as of my fate

To flattering sweet to be but true

I love amid my passions vast

And feel hence deep your hold anew

And of his words I utter not

I were to oust a bird’s ellipse

Lest for it’s song should even stir

The gentle hum of his sweet lips

“Oh, come with me, come with me

Come with me, come with me,

My love! Gold Fae! Great Nimue!”

And kissed me three, below the Rowan Tree

Before my bed, such grace there spoke

And of the oath, I sang to light

You promised thus, to wed me then

Said you, your royal soul that night

I see thee now, though not with mine

Thy sharper blade to my sweet touch?

Then donned a shroud of white to grave

The bitter tears hath claim too much

Speaks things with doubt, and tricks my heart

Will thou blink not? Thy eyes deceive.

Herald my fall, which you bestow

Behold by cry, I was naïve.

I weave my gown and tie my hair

Bedight in words of ill and spite

Quoth she then, with eyes cast down

Thy penance forth, deemed all but slight

I fare along thine path so well

Mine heart closed too much trust

The queen’s decree was tragic then

My sour soul holds none but lust

My eyes! My lips! My hands! My breasts!

Take all I wield! They ail me none!

But spare me now, my wings, my spells!

It’s though my very death’s begun!

I wail, I scream, I plead, I cry!

Avail me here! Thou listens not!

Stripped me of immortality -

Of my own name, stay not forgot

For void repose I lay my dance

Upon the earth with tears of glass

Of treachery, of endless grief

I taste no bliss, nor joy alas

WHAAATTT????? NO COMMENTS?? What's up with that? This is one of the BEST poemd I have read on elfwood in a long time. And I do not say that lightly. This was really lovely, so full of spirit, longing. *tear* An exquisite piece of poetry. 2

I did find a typo, I thought I would point it out to you.

"Behold by cry, I was naïve..." (By? I suppose you meant "my". :])

My favorite line was: "Then donned a shroud of white to grave/The bitter tears hath claim too much..." Beautiful. 2

I am at a loss for words. This blew me away. You stir something deep in the reader.

*sniffs* your too good at writing! I thought that I was somewhat good at poems... but after reading this I know that I am just an amateur... by far! It is a beautiful poem, you use the medieval sense of style, and your rhythm and rhymes are perfect, and I get such a vivid picture! OMG... very nice tho, I loved it... I feel so naive! I thought I was good... *sigh*... back to stage one... revising my poems

That was so beautiful! I don't know how you can write so perfectly. That is definately one of the best poems on elfwood. At least out of the one's I've read so far. But I read alot of poems. Please write more poems!
