Our old museum was nothing new

The art that hung seemed lost, a bit confused

I looked around, the guards asleep

So toward a stone statue I creep

Her face was chiseled perfectly

I could have sworn she winked at me

I reached out my hand onto her dusty frame

She was cold it seemed such a shame

Her face curved upwards in a smile

She took a heavy breath as though she hadn"t for a while

She stepped off her display and twirled in the air

I stood quite numbly, watching her there

She sighed content and took my hand

I stared at her trying to understand

Her anatomy was now flesh and bone

And I looked at the girl who was once a stone

She lifted my hand towards a painting

The sailor figure was tainting

I touched amazed and watched him jerk

Now much more than simple brushwork

The beautiful girl led me through the rooms

Saving the placid beasts from their lifeless tombs

Touching paintings of valiant swordplay

A bright young man with a dragon to slay

I continued touching all I saw there

A little bird figure that flew through the air

Breaking the old and dusty displays

The percussion of life forgetting passé

The guard was still sound asleep

The statue girl and I we creep

Our old museum was nothing new

A tomb for treasures to be rescued

Awesome Kylie I love it! It’s so enchanting and your imagery is great!

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "Thank you! This was a classic moment where I thought "Hmm I should write a story about a girl trapped in stone!" and then I thought "Ah I’m lazy I’ll just write a poem they will get the idea... "

*claps* Brilliant Genalee! <3 I adore this!

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "^_^ thank you very much! I’m glad that you like it and I hope it was worth the wait. "

This was great! Love the imagery used in your words. Truly magical.

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "Thank you very much Daniel! 2 "

Your rhyming scheme is very similar to my own. Perhaps I shall post some poetry. Well done. Reminds me very much of "Night at the Museum," thought with beauty rather than comedy 12

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "Yes this is definitely the rhyming scheme I default too and it comes most naturally. But I do try different styles that I’m not nearly as good at. 1 I love that movie. 2 But if you really want to know where I got my inspiration for this it was from Regina Spektor’s song All The Rowboats. this leads me to muse on the question of whether the art was alive before you got there (from the original artist) and as a viewer who ’got it’ you merely set it free, or if the art was made alive for the first time by the touch of a different imagination....

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "That is something each must ponder... makes you look at museums differently. Are they preserved or captured? "

precisely. I’m glad someone else thinks about these things (and I’m not being sarcastic)

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "It’s from being a writer, we all tend to look at things a little bit differently than everyone else. "

Holy crap this was awesome! Well done. I was sad to see it end. You hooked and reeled me along. You should write more 1

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "Wow thank you! 2 I have a few you might not have seen in other works. I really like this one though. And I’m patiently waiting for more of yours. *hint hint*"

what a cute beautiful tale - really like it2! would be great for a short movie, or a painting or such2

:-) Genalee Simon replies: "Aw thank you! I always have an image in my mind when I write. That’s all writing is- painting with words. 2 "
