this is a dictionary of all the Kaban stuff i've come up with. i dunno if it's helpful or just confusing, but i'm trying. any word you don't know in the stories with and (*), look it up here, and if you can't find it, chances are it's either english, or i made a really bad type-o (uh... sp?) some of the stuff there are just notes to myself, because i'm an idiot. Note: Kaban sentence structure is like English. Afterthought: i dunno if this is gonna be accepted! aaaaah!

To make a word plural, add ‘en’, but:

If the word ends in a vowel before ‘g, l, m, n, r, s, or t’, add that consonant, then ‘en’.

If the word ends in a vowel, add ‘n’.

To make a verb past tense, add ‘de’.

To add a ‘less’ ending to a word, add ‘s’, or ‘ls’.

To add an ‘ing’ ending to a word, add ‘ung’, but

If it ends in a vowel; then take away the vowel and add ‘ung’.

If it ends in ‘h’, add ‘ng’.

To add an ‘ly’ ending to a word, add ‘aj’. If it ends in a vowel, take away the vowel and add ‘aj’. Note: the ‘j’ is soft, like in Spanish.

To make a sentence/phrase in the future, add ‘iam’ to the verb: “Ico portraiam tous ane nigro Alatres.” Note: this is a very seldom-used tense. To make more sense in future tense, use modal auxiliary verbs (which may include ‘iam: “Ico aseriam(will) portra tous ane nigro Alatres.”

I've always had a thing for anthropology. Your dictionary illustrates, not only how you have forged a new language, but how you forged it. It is clear you have used English as a root language. Of course, if that was not your true intention, you'd have to get more creatived and start messing up those rules, make them seam alien and rather messy compared to what you already know(I know, making up a language is tough). It's good for a first try though.

:-) J. lawrence replies: "i did it using english because that made it easier to come up with words, they seemed to 'make sense', and i could remember it easier (the language is by NO means memorized though...) thanks for the comment. i have a fascination with languages, though im not good at any of them (cough* english) and dont have the patience or talent to sit and learn. you've made my day."

The language is very well worked out. I recognise parts of spanish, latin, dutch, jiddish, french and some words in my own language, german.I know, how hard it is, to build up a new language with all the grammar and orthografic rules, but you did a good job on it !

:-) J. lawrence replies: "thanks! there's a lot of german because i'm studying it in school... uh yeah. thanks again!"
