I always wondered how the first dragon would be liked, so I draw this one directly from the 'dino-age'.

This little reptille (a dradon) lived through the Cretassic Period; it had bone plates on back and belly, it could see a long distance, it had a very good hearing and a good sense of smell, it was capable of climbing and of short flyghts, it measured 10 inches, but is 'pepper' breath (a capability typical of almost dragons) came with the help of a little plant: the weezer weed.
This plant produced a curl of sticky berries, that could destroy the stomach walls by increasing the power of the stomach acids; the only creature that could eat these berries was the dradon, with the secondary effect of the pepper breath.
Over the next million years he stoped needing that plant (now extinct) to produce fire, and that same fire saved him from the ice-age, evolving to our very well known dragons.

How creative and colorful! I adore the wings!

:-) Ana Teresa 'Catwings' Campaniço replies: "Thanks! The bright colors are for warning (his not very tasty) and for camouflage"

I absolutely love this picture! The color and all...beautiful! Your other works are very talented too. But this picture blows me off the chair.^^,

:-) Ana Teresa 'Catwings' Campaniço replies: "I have to confess, I am good with coloured pencils (but not that good to blow anyone of a chair!!!)"

Very nice coloring on this one. The wings are great!

:-) Ana Teresa 'Catwings' Campaniço replies: "Do you know Disney's movie Dinossaur? Do you know that lil flying lizard at the beggining? There's where I got those wings"

I love the Disney movie Dinosaur. I love this picture. It's really good. I can't do didly squat with colored pencils. ok at least nothing this amazing.

It really does look like a picture from an old naturalist's guide. I love the colors, especially on the dragon's wings, and his scales are beautiful. You have such creative ideas! The bone and muscle structure on this one is quite good, too, although you may need to work on such accuracy in your other pictures. Might I suggest drawing from life as much as possible? Living creatures seldom stay still long enough for anything more than a quick sketch, but even that can improve your skills amazingly.
Good work, and thank you for the comment.

:-) Ana Teresa 'Catwings' Campaniço replies: "Thanks! I know but my problem isn't the way I draw, it's the time I have available to do it (and the supply of great ideas), specially when it comes to paint the pictures"

I liked the "Pepper Breath" concept; making it one of my most favorite, Dragon Pictures.

:-) Ana Teresa 'Catwings' Campaniço replies: "Actually I prefer the inflamable gas teory (they produce a gas that catches fire when exposed to the air)"

I like it alot. The dragon really looks like it could exsist.

You really rocks, girl... not only your cartoonist art is wonderful, your realistic art is the best too! I love all those details and the ancient wings too.

1 Ana Teresa 'Catwings' Campaniço replies: "Wow thanks!!!"
