Someone once asked me if I would ever sculpt a Manticore.. and it just so happened that at that time I was thinking of looking to find a more unique fantasy creature to create. After this person showed me a picture of one I started to do some research on them...

The Manticore..

The Manticore is made up of the body of a lion, the head of a man, with a large mouth containing three rose of teeth, and the tail of a scorpion. The Manticore was also attributed with having a voice that was the mixture of pipes and a trumpet.

The Manticore is said to have an appetite for humans and would often challenge its prey with riddles before killing it.

From what I have seen the actual description of the Manticore, it doesn’t have wings at all, but in searching for images it’s commonly shown with large bat like wings, witch I decided to add to mine.

Although the creature is supposed to have the face of a man, iv also seen it drawn with a more lion/man like look and have opted for that look in my own interpretation of a Manticore.. So naturally it holds that "Candace Bell" charm.

I hope you all like it!

These creatures are certainly scary! Seems like something out of one of my messed up nightmares hehe. (expect mine wouldnt look as cuddly as this one lol)

A Manticore! Wow this is so very original and imaginative! Such a unique choice of subject, and a beautiful sculpture! Are you planning on sculpting more lesser-known mythical creatures?
