Here's the prologue to my 'Great Work.' I am still typing the story, but am currently re-assessing it for the 6th time, and I have paused for the moment.

Deep within the Realm of Magic the timeless evil known as Onyx stirred. A woman, hidden by voluminous robes, a veil covering her face, entered her master’s cave. “The war goes still well, my Lord.” The shadow in front of the woman shifted, almost seeming to take a definite form.

“Good. And the girl, you have found her?” A close listener might have detected a faint unease in the shadow’s question, but his servant merely answered,

“Yes, my Lord. She is under my care.” Unearthly laughter filled the air and the shadow shimmered, for a moment resembling a draconian form before fading into the depths of the cave once more.

*first comment dance* Ahh, that's enchanting! Who's this girl? And this mysterious draconian form? Shall we find out soon, I wonder?

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Well, as I said, I'm sort of re-thinking the story again, and the poor moderators are swamped right now anyway... but I will put together a first chapter soon..."

Hi! This is really good! When are you going to post the rest of the story? I can't wait to read it!

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Soon... patience, young one..."

Your descriptions in this one were exceptional. I could see it all, and yet what you didn't describe -- the shadowy "evil one" for instance -- left an aura of mystery and forboding that was quite powerful.

I hope you're planning a full story on this! I'll read it!

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Yes, a full story has been written once; a bare outline really, and revised five times since over the coures of two years. I will begin posting revisions as soon as the mods are not so busy."

I like this, all your other writings have conveyed a much "lighter" feel and it is good to see that you can carry the message of darkness almost as clearly. nice job

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Bwaahaahaa... you want dark, do you? I'll give you dark... *walks off muttering to self* break the seals kill them all break them must break the seals... (sorry, a little Wheel of Time humor there)"

You are obsessed! Not that it is a bad thing. It is good to see some Jordan influences. A good writer is he. Let us hope this story is not 8000+ pages long *grins* A good writer is you. Let us hope this story is 9000+ pages long because it will be highquality if it is all like this!

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Aaahhh, verily... *smiles* Hehehehe thank you Pete, I hope my story is very long too 10 "

Very intriguing prologue! I'm going to read the whole story now. Good work! And, thanks for the comments on my poems!

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Thanks, and you're welcome 1"

Incredibly short, and incredibly captivating.

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Thank you, it's the effect I was going for ^_^"

I know of no evil
only bennifit and harm
and the restless tides of eternity
lapping at the shores of the tangable

yet this earth certainly has witnessed the clumsy hand
of meddlers in time,
it's natural state now visited only in dreams.
where once unworried and unstressed
innovation creatively evolved
leaving no wanton destruction in its wake.

still even this the healing salve
of time's eternal tides may some day
ulitmately heal.

for even the violent and immature
must in time grow, or at least age.

=^^=
.../\...

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "This too is true... and time will tell, John."

There is a crapload of insight for how short that is!
Jesus Christ on a pogo stick! I can already tell you have talent, and this is the only thing I've read so far!
You got me interested, so I'm off to read Chapter One!

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "Ahem... ah... thank you 2"

I knew I commented in some of them... it feels less like Jordan now that I am on book 9 (and his style is sickening to me at the moment, so on to Handmaids Tale by Margret Atwood)... I like your high fantasy style..

-Pete

:-) Carla K. Anderson replies: "*nods* thank you, my dear 2 I find it easiest to write in the high fantasy genre... although perhaps someday I may expand my horizons."
