  | This picture was inspired by the following passage from a story that I've been working on since January for my creative writing class. * * * 'Have you ever told her how you feel?' Eldak asked, breaking the silence. Tanan stared down at his hands resting on the table. 'Are you kidding?' 'Tanan, I’m a hundred and eighty-six years old and time is a great teacher so listen to my advice. Tell her, tell her how you feel about her while you have the chance for you never know what tomorrow might bring and you never know if you’ll get another chance. I speak from experience.' Tanan looked up at Eldak. He had a far away look in his dark eyes as he remembered the past. 'Before I was exiled, I was madly in love with the most wonderful female in the universe. But I lost her, Tanan. She died four months after I left Vaak for the outpost of Orue of a neurological syndrome. Apparently it was genetic and had laid dormant for all of her twenty years. The doctors didn’t know what in the name of Vaak it was and they were the best of the best. She passed away the same day that the symptoms appeared. I never got to tell her what was truly in my heart. Of all the things that I have done, that was by far the worst, and I regret that more than anything else in this world. We don’t get any second chances, Tanan. Do yourself a favor and tell her.' 'I can't.' 'What do you mean you can't? Of course you can. Trust me, if you don't tell her and something happens you'll hate yourself forever.' |
