After several apologetic updates, I think I'm finally going to have to accept that no, I will never return to the days of updating every possible second and so am going to more or less wave goodbye to Elfwood for good. There might still be the occasional update (my fantasy story writing days aren't entirely behind me) but don't hold your breath.
However, much as I try other things, my Elfwood page still comes up first whenever my name or username is typed into Google and I'm still quite fond of many of the things I've uploaded here over the years. So, as long as Elfwood's policy on inactive members doesn't change, most of it's staying, although I'm trimming out anything that makes me cringe to read it. That's 34 stories down from 49, having left anything with sentimental, if not literary value! If there's anything I've deleted that anyone wants, please email me, and I'd be happy to send you a copy. There does still seem to be some interest in my writing, particularly in a badly-written FARP article that I'm pleased to see appears to be popular. If you've got any questions (or want any notably dreadful bit of phrasing clearing up!) you'd be better off emailling me than leaving a comment, though - my email, at least, is checked almost daily.
I think that's it, so thank you to Elfwood for invaluable years of inspiration (sorry, entering Oscar territory now) and please enjoy my stories!

| 22 Dec 2004 | Taz | Loading...WOW! Emma - you can write! Your stories are REALLY REALLY good. I'm sure that one day you WILL publish a book! If I can publish a poem anyone can! Please put some more stories on! x Emma Lydia Bates replies: "Thanks Taz! More stories coming soon." | |
| 31 Aug 2005 | Michelle A Salvagio | Loading...I agree with the people who say you should write more poetry! You usually say before a poem that you don't like it or that it didn't work, but i think you're way too hard on your own work! I really like the variety of stories ad poems you have up - great library!!! Emma Lydia Bates replies: "Thank you! That's the sort of comment that really boosts my confidence, so maybe I ought to put more poems up. Thanks again for the comment!" | |

So far what I've read has been of very good quality and I look forward to reading more. I hold a respect for those who can express their thoughts and dreams with words, and each piece is a part of the creating author. Each piece a small dream set to paper. I'm running back to Bifrost now! Emma Lydia Bates replies: "Sometimes the people who aren't very good critics can be most helpful, because they just saw what they feel rather than trying to analyse the story or something. Thanks for the comment!"

And i am afraid i just made a fool of myself..you see in the email i just sent you...i mentioned that i couldn't find your email...*cough*.....ahem...well i found it...lol sorry i'm a ditz sometimes *blushes* ANYWAY!! lol now you're back i will be hanging round, commenting on all of your stories and making a general nuisance of myself hehe hope you don't mind!! By the way, you're stories encouraged me to become a writer on elfwood myself and since then i have met some wonderful people. Thank you! Emma Lydia Bates replies: "I thought I'd replied to this... but my computer crashed halfway through. It's a relief, anyway, that there isn't half a reply or something like that!
I have no objection to you or anyone commenting on all my stories - it's hardly something I'd consider a nuisance anyway. Thanks for the comment!"
