An example of a creature drawn largely as an excuse do draw spots, scales, frills and elaborate horns. I like his ears.
Fibre-tipped drawing pen on cartridge paper. These are best for intricate patterns, I find, because they give a consistent line thickness. Scale patterns drawn with ballpoint can look messy.
