This is the finished work, and boy am I astonished. I spent five hours on the profiled woman alone, and lessee, about four and a half on everything else. Last night at about 12:30 I had to literally drag myself away from the computer :) I wanted to finish it sooo badly, but I was getting really tired and my eyes were hurting, and I've ruined drawings before because of exhaustion. I didn't want a repeat.

The voting won't start until Feb. 16, so when that time comes pay a visit to the MAG. I'm not going to tell anyone to vote for me, that feels wrong. If you're going to vote, vote for the people who deserve it, that's what I say :)

I'm going to ramble on for a little bit longer, so if you want to avoid my chatter just look at the picture.

This is a huge leap forward for me, in two ways. One, this is the absolute best cg job I have EVER done. Two, this is my first COMPLETED piece in Painter 6 (only God knows how many I've started >_<). I have never been prouder of my work. Looking back at Chicka and Danae, and even Winds of Change, I see a load of mistakes and so much room for improvement. Those were with Photoshop, though, so lets just say that Painter is my new best friend. Long live the watercolor tool!!

Of all the things I like in this picture, I love their hair the most. That has always been my sorespot, the thorn in my side. It's why I never colored my work much, because it was so difficult to get it to look right. (look as Winds of Change, I loathe the job I did on her hair). Now I'd like to think that I'm overcoming that problem.

This also signifies one final change in me : the end of the lazy artist. I've looked at other people's colored works and complained, 'why can't I do that', and despaired because I wasn't as good of an artist as them. Now I see that it wasn't necessarily skill, or the lack thereof, that was holding me back. It was my unwillingness to actually spend a long time on a work. If you spend long enough on something, you can make it as good as you want, and what's more, the finished product is more than worth all of the time and effort you put into it. It really is like that saying, you get out of it exactly what you put into it. Expect more work from me like this. I'm done now, go look at the picture ^_^;

Best coloring I ever saw! Is it done in Painter? I envy you having the chance to attend an animation school. Your pictures look very professional! In this one the hair and the jewels are soo good, and the costume I love very much too. Very, very beautyful picture!
I bookmarked your gallery! 2)

I still love this one so much...I had no idea you put so much time and effort into it, though. x.x; I guess I thought all really good artists can crank things out in no time flat. XD Still love the Life and Death theme..so pretty...x.x

Great picture, of course, but I'd just like to say thanks for that last paragraph. I've been in a huge slump, hating everything I draw and just being jealous of other people (like you ^^), but now I feel like I want to start drawing again. Big thanks.
