This is a surreal peice I wrote about 6 months ago(as of oct'02). I took it too some workshops and never worked it out quite far enough, but I think it's a wonderful example of a simple linier-abstract plot.

Alone in the ballroom she stands. Red satin flows down her curving to the floor where it crashes like a waterfall meeting a sea of marble. Dark curls frame her porcelain face falling heavy about her shoulders.
  "Your Beautiful"
  A voice
She turns, turns to find a man cut from the night. He is born to fill her silence as his words die.
He bows, offering his hand. She accepts with a smile.
  Embrace Step Two Three Step
They both know the dance to start the music of an unseen orchestra.
Ethereal players produce a grime cacophony of sound as the couple glide across the floor as if suspended in aether.
He comes to a halt even as the sound persists leaning in to steal a kiss lips soft as silk. Her eyes open to see his essence explode into ten thousand rose petals as he slowly blows into gusts of their motion. Grasping at the storm of red she falls to her knees desperately trying to restore his shape.
Pain cuts past her skin with the shard of first morning in her grasp. Blood flows down her arm as the music reaches a fervent crescendo.
As the first drop of blood hits the floor the music breaks into the cool howling of the night wind and the doll looks to her broken captor and in the ballroom she is alone.

I actually printed this off your fools site with the intent of drawing something to it, when you first put it up. I never got around to it though i suppose i should. The description of heaven reminds me of a woman i fingerpainted in blue on my closet door in my old room, sad and beautiful and flowing like water. My mental picture is like that, except red crismon and dark like blood instead of water. I just doubt i have the skill to draw what's in my mind. :16igh::

This is one of my favorites. One thing distracts me- you're beautiful instead of your. Don't roll your eyes either, and tell me it's good to spell things wrong or whatever. We've already beaten that horse to death in my mind, esp. Since i know i'm right. :16miles::

:-) Charles Mills Trowbridge replies: "Your right, I did use the wrong word in this peice. Truth be told, I dident notice. Whitman reviewed and revised every peice I have up for gramatical content, I'll have to review his revisions and then repost. Due to differences in oppionion between moderaters (let me note, I dont care which way you guys rule on it, i'm just glad your volenteering to do such a thankless job) when posting this peice on if it constitues as aproprate on elfwood, we'll have to see what happens."
