An ancient Celtic legend depicts a ghostly woman of the darkest nights. She moves not with pace but in a soulless trance, her sunken eyes like voids of darkness as she chants a deathly wail. Her mournful cry can be heard as a melancholy song to some. But alas, this sullen chant is but an omen of death, for she is the Banshee. Neutral in intent, she is not Death but merely Death's messenger. In that, she is inevidable, inexcapable ... Her cry is the fate of all mortal men, for they are but mortal men.

Borrowed the face from 'The scream' mayhap? 2 i like the concept, interesting, simple and bold, the figure is obviously the central focus. Nice light

:-) Heather R. Davis replies: "I saw that in the picture only after I completed it. Needless to say it didnt turn out the way I had hoped. (And therefore I may redo it!) I had hoped for something rather ethereal, ghostly, and the program I have didn't allow me that. It's still an interesting picture. Thank you for the comment!"

The banshee, reminded me a lot of "The scream". That painting scared me enormously when I saw it as a child, and the amazing feeling this painting conveyed was the same feeling I got... shaking in my boots. :-P

22 Heather R. Davis replies: "You're the second person to say that. Look at the comment above you! I don't know if I can say much that I didn't say there.. Only that the resemblance wasn't intended. (Wait, I said that too!) Anyway, settle your boots down. Read a couple (true?) stories about banshees. Then shake. *egrin!*"

EEK! *shivers* its so spooky! but cool! the face seems to look right at you n *shudder* at 12am, its sooooo SCARI!!! *screams* it looks great tho!

12 Heather R. Davis replies: "*chuckles* Bet it's nothing compared to me at 12 am though."

I agree, this reminds me of the Evard Munch painting that is ever so famous. Although the facial expression appears similar, the rest is not. I like the deep colors used in the background as well as the movement shown in the blowing hair and robe. Good work! Creepy too.

:-) Heather R. Davis replies: "This does remind people of that painting, it seems! It's a little odd, because I never had it in mind when I did it this; I can say, however, that I had hoped it to come out softer than it had. Oh well! 1"

the composition is good but the general art work of the picture is in need ov vast help. Try lessons at a school ar a self help book or take.

16 Heather R. Davis replies: "Or take? ... Take lessons? Take asprin? Take whiskey? (Will you buy?) ..Take what?....Hello? ...Are you there?...Oh ..oh, no... No, it can't be!! THE BANSHEE GOT HIM!! THE BANSHEE GOT HIM, HELP!! Oh my God that never happened before.. What if one of my vampires also got out..Oh no.. HELP!(...Seriously, this is an old piece. I mean *old*. The only reason I keep it here is because people insist on commenting on it. That must be good..Or something.. I take an art class in school, and I practice a lot. I have improved! ;-) ...)"

I think the best thing of this one is that it appears almost dream-like. It gives it the feeling that you are aiming for. I like this one a lot.
