SciFi and Fantasy Art face painted girl by Christiaan, A.Iken

I don't like drawing too closely to photographs but I did this shortly after school and was interested in technique and getting images as close as a photo as possible, now I dont really try to go for detail or realism but more of a overal feeling.But remember taking this photo of a friend as it was one of the best summers of my life. The background was made using airbrush, apart from doing giger like paintings I stay clear from the airbrush as I like texture and imperfections, but do like computer art. does that make sense?

This work looks as though it was done from a photo reference - if it was, you did a wonderful job moving from one medium to the next. If it wasn't then I salute your ability to capture the realism of the scene. Nice job.
5 Jan 2004	Devan	Loading... I think the one hint that it's not a photograph is the fullness and blackness of the shadow on her face. Hair doesn't cast that much of a shadow (I'm an amateur photographer; I tend to notice those things). Still, I am totally blown away by this picture. If I hadn't read the description first, I would've thought it was a photo as well. The detail and use of colour is absolutely amazing.
