The second Pagan holiday, Yule, celebrates the coming of spring and the 'rebirth of the sun.' The woman is the goddess Cerridwen, the god Cerrnunos is shown in the background.

This is one of the most beautiful renditions of the holiday I have seen so far. Wonderful colors. Soft, gentle, happy feeling. Gorgeous.

First of all; love the picture..! The satyr in the mirror(!) is great, as are the coloring...! *love colors* ...and detail(!)...!

I'm just curious; what's "pagan"? In what kind of mythic religion is this about..? A "real" one, or your own..? i guess, by the tours on this on, that it got something to go with the keltic ones, but...whom are -they-..?
Why I'm asking is because "yule", pronounced in Swedish becomes "jul", wich in Sweden is the Christmas holiday.
I'm just wounderling if there's a connection that I donät know of. =)

Oh this is so lovely. A great depiction of the Cernunnous as well. The use of color is beautiful, the oranges really set the blue and greens apart. *applauds*
Blessed Be.

Cell: the word Pegan is usualy used in reference to anyone who is not Christian, and mostly used in refereance to those of the old celtic religion/s. I had always understood "yule" to have something to do with Christmass, but it makes sense that it would come from the old religions...so many other things do.

To the Artist: Your SAtory Book Illistaration Style is so wonderfull...youu could certainly make a career out of it. These Two are gorgous, and I love the way you have framed the picture with the two trees, and the way He is looking on, as though through a window...

I have to say something about how you've put the coldness of winter and the warmth and light of celebration right into the same setting and it works! The snow looks great, once again you've made white look totally white while shading it with blues and lavenders. The toasty glow around the woman is great when seen next to all that frosty whiteness. And I love her dress, it's so pretty.

This is a brilliant picture and to answer your question Cerridwen is pronounced Ker-id-when and Sir-nu-nos.
