SciFi and Fantasy Art Vuquix by Lucas J. Cifranic

This one has a little history behind it. I was looking in a partially-illustrated encyclopedia on world history (meaning they had illustrations for some entries, but not all them). One of the illustrations depicted the Hero Twins of Aztec mythology fighting a 'demon bird' named Vucub Caquix; this demon was depicted as a vulture with a mass of small, writhing snakes where the wings should be. I looked him up in several other sources, and it turns out this was just artistic licence; Vucub Caquix was more of a bird-man type demon. However, the concept of birds with snakes where the wings should be inspired me; more snakelike features were added to my inner vision, and the Vuquix is the result. No, I'm not sure exactly how it flies either; I'm not too worried about it, however, as technically pegasi shouldn't be capable of supporting themselves in flight, either. Ballpoint pen on sketch paper, colored and manipulated in Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition; again, to alleviate my conscience, the scale effect was done using a filter (though the pattern on the scales was all me). I found the bark texture and the rainforest picture by looking on Google.com's image search, I forget/can't find the actual sites again.
