"Balkyr" by Claire Salvatori

WOW! It's hard to say enough about this picture. I love the smooth, almost airbrush-looking shading. That, plus the pose and jewelry, give it a really strong Art Deco feel for me. The hair is absolutely stunning. The careful attention to detail gives a textural quality that really sets off the meticulously smooth skin, and you bring out a rythmic quality in the curls that complements this formal, stylized way you treat the figure. Yet despite this careful, stiff kind of feel, the character has a real sensuous--dangerous--kind of warmth to her. This juxtaposition of warm sensuality and formal aloofness, of course, totally expresses her character. Masterful, and definately one of the best pics I've seen here at Elfwood. I'll be studying your technique hard!

A comment for wraithchilde: not all women's breasts are exactly as you say. I have a friend that has nipples facing straight forward, and she isn't deformed in any way. And if you will pay attention to the detail here you will notice that her left breast is a little more outward that the other. And I think the little comment 'Just look down and you'll see what I mean' was a little inappropriate. I will assume you are male.

And to the artist: I like her because she is beautiful, and very desirable. You have captured that very well. I love her hair and her curvy body. My only crit. is that her feet need a little work. Otherwise, the detail is amazing. There is nothing else you would need to do to this to make it perfect. It would also be interesting to see her in colour!
