This was a really cool exercise that I did after getting the idea from my good friend Brandi L. Weaver (so visit her library now!!!) lol I just loved her dialogue-only story that I just had to try it myself. Mine's not very good, but hey it's only a first!

“What is it, Lora?”

“A gem I believe. It‘s green around the edges with a violet middle.”

“Its not like…you know…plain to see?”

“Of course it is, I’m looking straight at it. It’s right here-”

“Ouch! That hurt, please don’t poke me there.”

“I figured your forehead wouldn’t be sore by now.”

“I have a gem in it! Of course it’s going to be sore!”

“Sooorry. Now, tell me how this happened, Greg.”

“I don’t know…I just found it somewhere. After a while, it disappeared, and my head started to hurt.”

“Where did you find it?”

“At the void-”

“What! You went to the void?!”

“Yeah…”

“Speak up! I can’t believe you went to the void. You stupid boy!”

“Don’t yell at me! At least I came to you before Nina.”

“…”

“Don’t look at me like that.”

“Well?”

“Well, what?”

“!!!”

“What?”

“Do you want me to take it out, Greg?”

“Take it out? But, won’t that hurt? That’s cold!”

“I figured some cold water would bring down the inflammation. Yes, it will hurt.”

“Should I?”

“I don’t know. I’ve seen this happen before, actually.”

“Really? What happened to them?”

“…”

“Look at me! What happened to them?”

“Let me just say, once it showed up, it never went away. And they’re changed because of it.”

“Changed?”

“Yeah. I’m afraid for you Greg. These people with the gems get strange powers. It’s almost as if the gems take them over.”

“What kind of powers?”

“It different with everyone - no, stay seated - some can move very fast, while others can turn invisible. But all can summon this monstrous shadow.”

“You mean I can summon a monstrous shadow now that I have a weird gem in my forehead?”

“I guess. No one really knows anything about these gems, I‘ve only known one person who was able to get theirs out.”

“Who?”

“Me.”

“…You mean…”

“Yeah.”

“Then, I’ll have a scar like that on my forehead too?”

“Most likely.”

“Oh.”

“…”

“You think you can get mine out, Lora?”

“There‘s very little chance of that.”

“Will you still try?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I love you.”

“…”

“…”

“Okay let’s do it, Lora.”

“Alright, now hold still. I’m going to use this to try and pry it out.”

“Your using that?”

“I said hold still!”

“Alright! Jeez.”

“…”

“…!!!”

“Stop your bawling.”

“I can’t help it!”

“I can barely understand you, your crying so hard.”

“I said I can’t stop crying, it hurts too bad.”

“I know.”

“…”

“It‘s being difficult.”

“Then stop!”

“No.”

“Why? Your torturing me!”

“Because if mine can come out, then yours can too.”

“…”

“Greg? Gregory? What’s happening?”

Lora!

“Come back Greg! I’m sorry, please don’t go away. I won’t try to take it out anymore, I promise.”

“Lora? What’s wrong?”

“Wha-what happened?”

“What do you mean?”

“A bed. I’m on a bed. But, I was just trying to get the gem out of your head…”

“…Gem?”

“Yeah.”

“You better lay down some more. You must have been having one hellacious dream.”

“Your probably right.”

“Now, hold still. I’m going to try and get this gem out of your forehead. It’ll probably hurt a lot.”

“What? No!

That was cute! It started out real cute, then I got a little concerned when I learned the problems the gem could cause, and then it got cute again with the dream.

I think you did a good job of getting the information into the dialogue without sounding fake. Puts me in the mood to write another dialogue-only story. 12

Nice job! 2

Weird...
Cool too though...
What happens next?

:-) Chelsa L. Dagley replies: "This wasn't really meant to be an ongoing thing, only an excercise to expand my dialogue skills, because in my earlier stories you can see I needed a lot of help haha!"
