I think that the wings ( heaven and hell) idea would be great with that stare. This picture give me a sense of Tomb Raider meets Resident Evil Yen Bui replies: " http://www.yenbui.com/images/enmity3.jpg"

I don't think it's the head, it's the shoulders... I really love all your pictures, I'm amazed by the colour work, and the realism in it. My pictures all look too comic-stylish or abstract, whatever style I try... I really love your background in here and in the other artwork.
| 14 Jul 2006 | Tony Orzech | Loading...Hi Yen! You have a wonderful gallery here and this is a beautiful piece, but like you said, there are some technical issues. First, DON'T TOUCH THE CHARACTER!!! Her head is NOT too big and her shoulders are NOT too narrow. She is fine. Also your background and sky are excellent. Now, the only problems are your foreground PERSPECTIVE and the CAST SHADOWS on the ground. I know that this foreground effect took you a long time to do but it looks like the background and the foreground were created for two different pieces and than composite together by fading the foreground into the background. I hope you created the foreground on a separate layer, it looks like you did. You have at least 5 horizon lines going on in this foreground. You have a different horizon for each element and those are different than the figure, background and sky (there should only be ONE horizon line for everything). The figure works well with the mountains, distant ruins and sky so you need to fix the perspective and shadow issues of the foreground to solve the visual issue you are having with this piece. As for the shadows. The cast shadows on the ground are all going in the wrong direction based on the lighting on... everything. I will give you some slack on the shadows and highlights on the figure (some slight shadowing enhancements could be effective) but the ground cast shadows are as much a visual issue as the perspective. This is a beautiful piece with potential. It can be improved if you are willing to scrap this foreground and redo it with the correct perspective and shadowing. If you are willing to do this but need some help, please let me know, I can show you how. Your artistic skills are developing beautifully and further development comes down to fine tuning to build on an excellent base talent. I know you can do this and I look forward to seeing this piece with these corrections. | |
