| 10 Mar 2004 | That's THE artist to you! joshuajurgess@hot.. | Loading...I love the detail that went into the tail, but personally, this piece would've been much better with more boobs. Mandi L. Creguer replies: "Oh come on, just look at the ghetto booty she has going on! lol, and not every female has to have big boobs, i dont, and neither do my mermaids, and boobs arent very aerodynamic! lol" | |
| 11 May 2004 | Sarah Colley | Loading...Good job! You can see the improvement in your work. Practice is the best way to improve, so just draw, draw, draw! There are a lot of good books and online tutorials that can help you improve your basic skills as well, I recommend checking a few of them out. Mandi L. Creguer replies: "thanks for the recommendation, maybe someday in the distant future, when im not so incredibly busy, i might devote more time to my art, at the moment, all my spare time is going into acting." | |
| 6 Nov 2004 | A.R. George | Loading...It does look like she's staring at something pretty intently, doesn't it? Maybe it's a merman in the water debating whether he's brave enough to slosh out and join her on the beach. Nice picture - I like her pose! Mandi L. Creguer replies: "Wow, Thanks! hehe, i rather think shes flirting with some unsuspecting sailor..." | |
| 19 Dec 2004 | Kelsey Hottman | Loading...very nice. I love the tail its very different. I'd say her neck is a bit small though. Mandi L. Creguer replies: "Thanks on the tail!! Umm, on the neck, small like how? like too short? or too skinny? " | |
| 20 Jan 2005 | Norma Peters | Loading...She is SO pretty. I love the design of her tail fin. Lovely pose, very natural and relaxed, and she has such a charming, cute expression. Mandi L. Creguer replies: "Thankies!!! yeah, her tail was fun, but i almost ran out of room on the paper!!" | |
| 1 Feb 2005 | C. Clayton | Loading...The torso on this figure has more realism than I saw in the other pieces posted. The pose allows for overlapping which helps... did you use any reference for this one? My suggestion for you is try composing your figures and other things you wish to draw of 3d shapes/forms/objects i.e. Spheres, cones, cylinders, tapered cylinders, cubes etc. Then you can flesh out and fine tune the shapes/forms from there. But it will give you a basic foundation for a figure or object that will look more 3d and/or realistic. I wish you great success in your future efforts, C Mandi L. Creguer replies: "Reference?!? whats that?? hehe, no actually the only time ive ever used references is in art class in high school! and thanks for the suggestions! im not really going for realism or anything, i dont do much for drawing anymore, unless its fashion designs, but i'll keep that in mind!" | |
| 11 Jun 2005 | Alice Muffin Girl Smith | Loading...Hmm... you might want to try turning up the contrast on your scans--this is pretty hard to see, but otherwise... 'tis pretty nice. I'm with everyone else in loving the design of the tail. I like how you did her hair, too--it looks slicked back like it's wet, which is certainly a rather natural state for it to be in. That webbed hand is a very neat touch, too... I haven't often seen that, but yeah, it makes as much sense as the hair... ^_^ Mandi L. Creguer replies: "The scanner was giving me fits at the time, and right now its not even hooked up, so guess I'm stuck with this for now... Thanks so much for the comments, I tried to make sense with this one, which is why she's got a ghetto booty too, there'd be a lot of muscle in a mermaid's tail, doncha think?" | |
| 20 Jul 2005 | Manda Fetters, (sing. ad luna) | Loading...I love the fin, and her half-turned-over pose. Her chest is a little "out," though, by which I mean her left breast should come forward a little more, and I'd add the heel of her hand beneath her chin if she has her head propped on her hand. What is she looking at? She looks as if she tried to capture someone who was swimming, but they made it to land and she's trying coyly to get them to come back. And it's working. Mandi L. Creguer replies: "Meh, making flat things look 3d is NOT my specialty, lol. Thnx!!" | |
