Would you willingly subscribe to your own doom?

            “I have failed.”

Very well.  Your word is my law.

A whirring and clanking filled the room as her doom was lowered.

“Step inside, thou fallen one, and prepare to meet thy doom.”

Her soft white feet met the rough, rusting floor of the cage, and she had to hold her iridescent wings close in order to fit them within the bars.  The door clanked shut and melded together with the ancient bars, forming a complete and unbreakable chamber.  She gazed remorsefully out through the bars at her condemner, but all she could see was a reflection of herself.  She heard a fluttering behind her, turned quickly, and snagged a wing on the bars.  They were already losing feathers.

            Begin Humanization.

The floor of the cage was soon littered with her shining white feathers.  Her hair grew dim, and her eyes lost their luster.  Her skin darkened, and completely dissipated from her now bare wings, leaving the bones, which cracked and exploded, leaving two wounds in her back.  Her size shortened, and she could feel the ichor in her veins festering and turning to mortal, corruptible blood.  The wounds in her back turned read, and blood began flowing forth, and she felt pain.  She sank to her knees, head in hands, surrounded by feathers that were once her own, and the wounds on her bare back closed, leaving bright pink scars.

“So be thy doom.  Thou shalt wander the Earth to the end of thy days, alone.  Neither God nor Man shall attend  to thee.  Thy name hall be Nothing until thy time is utterly spent.”  She was weakening, her ears were becoming fainter, her eyes dimmer.  She was nothing now, a weak human, to go amongst other humans and die into nothing.

“Thou hast thy doom accepted.  I release thee.”

A flash of light sent the contents of the chamber to her prison—Earth.

:-) Camilla 'Motone' Whitney replies: "Hehe, yeah. I was feeling pretty sad and pathetic. I'd really like to make a short film of this someday... computer animated, of course."

Oh dear. It's kind of sad... that it isn't more than this. Now there's only the punishment but you can't contemplate the crime. What could be a crime horrible enough to deserve this? What failure gruesome enough?

Ah well. In Finland, we just call that "paska nakki".

:-) Camilla 'Motone' Whitney replies: "I dunno what she did, but it must have been something awful. At least she's taking the responsibility upon herself... What's up with me and having people curse themselves, anyway..."

~ She gazed remorsefully out through the bars at her condemner, but all she could see was a reflection of herself. < Nice. ^_^
~ The wounds in her back turned *read*, and blood began flowing forth, and she felt pain. < "red"?

The most interesting thing about this was the used of mechanized elements... Please, please tell me you purposefully picked to do that, and it wasn't just the first thing that came to your mind while you wrote. Please tell me you really are THAT good, and you fully intend all the cool implications that spring from having machines in a place that hints of heaven. Oh, please don't wake me up from this glorious dream of wonderful literature in such a concise form that the mind is free to wander down corridors and gear-shafts without direction, but with a certain purpose that leaves one feeling haunted...

Tell me, please...

:-) Camilla 'Motone' Whitney replies: "For you, oh lovely Muffin Girl...

I really am just that good.

Except for when it comes to spotting typos in my own works..."
