  | Most of this picture is done in watercolor. I used gold acrylic paint and a gold prismacolor pen for the drawings inside the circle, can you pick out the spot where the pen dropped a little too much? Anyway, I got the idea from a japanese plate that was the 'Splendors of Imperial Japan' exhibit at the Portland Art Museum last year. The two backgrounds are not seperate as if the circle were an object or something. However there is a shadow under the woman as if she were able to move from one enviroment into the red and gold world; and yet the shadow doesn't follow the rules of light connected to the sky-scape but is linked to the cirlce. It's kind of hard for me to explain, but I think you can get the gist of it. *The symbol on her shoes are the Japanese symbol for strenght* |
