Do you paint your sculptures, or is that the color of the clay? I am looking for some nice metallic paints to paint a polymer clay sculpture, and I am having the worst luck. If you use paints, I would be delighted if you could point me in the right direction. Barbara (Cythtor Dreamchaser) Foster replies: "The colors you see are the colors of the clay (fortunately, you can blend clay colors to get ones that are more specific to what you want than just what's available off the shelf). In the days when I *did* paint my dragons, I used Liquitex and Golden brand acrylic paints, both of which have some very lovely metallic colors. Hope that helps!"

Once again, this is fantastic! Barbara (Cythtor Dreamchaser) Foster replies: "They *are* all seperate pieces applied one-by-one! (And believe me, by the time I get done, that's a *lot* of scales!) I make all my sculptures out of Premo Polymer clay, by the way. And thanks for the compliments!"

He blends in so nicely with the scenery giving him good camoflaugue (sp?), yet still stands out nicely without getting lost in the background. Very beautiful! Barbara (Cythtor Dreamchaser) Foster replies: "*Grin* He does blend in well, doesn't he? I've thought for some time that "real" dragons would probably be colored more along the lines of what you see predators in nature colored as. After all, if you're trying to catch your lunch, you don't want it to see you *first!*"

| 12 Apr 2006 | Sarge | Loading...I like it a lot but the spade on the tail seems to throw this picture off for some reason. I guess I don't like tail spades in the case of dragons, I'm more of a whiplash girl. X3 Still lovely job. I'm dying to ask this: How do you make the scales on your dragons? Do you fashion one scale at a time? My god that must take hours! Barbara (Cythtor Dreamchaser) Foster replies: "It depends on the scales involved. Some I have a cutter for, but many of them I have to do some individual molding on to make them do what I want. It can take awhile, but it does keep me out of mischief... well, a *little* at least!" | |
