After looking through some of the awesome portraits on elfwood, I decided to try my hand on another brown-haired elf.  Shes actually more of a chartreuse, but the scanner turned everyhing all yellowish, and darkened her hair.   Originally, her dress was blue, but I changed my mind halfway through and went over it again in light green.  Does anyone have hints on how to make realistic skin tones, because I just used burnt sienna straight out of the tube, and it makes her look a little sunburned.  Watercolor and watercolor pencil.

I get the first comment waltz ;-) I like your art. There's so much I like about this drawing. The arms, hands, neck, hair, dress. The tip of the nose though looks a little nipped off. The eye on the right side of the painting is a liitle far away from the nose, the nose should start to hide the corner of the eye with the face turned at that angle. Despite what I've just said I find this drawing very complelling. My advice with portraits is to get the eyes right and people tend to not see other problems;-) Do keep drawing!

I love green! This is a great portrait (I just had a go at one myself....it looked like a trolls ugly cousin. Nuff Sed.) Anyhoo, the skin tone is fine, I don't think she looks sunburnt. Evenly Tanned maybe, but never burnt. Christ, when I burn I look like a lobster!
Great Work!

Wow this looks great, I think green generally suits elves due to the nature loving stereotype that is put on them.

I don't think she looks sunburnt at all, but that could be because you said the scan made her look a bit yellowish.

Anyways, keep it up. I love your work and hope to see more up.

I really like her... I think somehow this elf looks more elvish than anything I've ever seen before! Not too sophisticated, not too loosey-goosey (19D), but just pure elvish... the way they are sopposed to be! Keep up this stuff! (lack of words, wanted something unusual... 'stuff' does the trick)

2 A. 'Daisy' Lee replies: "Wow, thank you *blushes*, I'm very complemented. I like your choice of words. Hehe, "loosey-goosey"..."

Hmm, she is EXACTLY how I always imagined Arwen from Lord of the Rings to look. Thats quite an acheivement!

I like the neck again. You seem to do them really well. All the bone structure and everything.

11 A. 'Daisy' Lee replies: "Thank you! It took several photo references to get her head position correct, glad you think it looks all right 1 "

11 A. 'Daisy' Lee replies: "Noses can be pretty difficult, but just keep practicing and they'll get easier."
