4 hours of stippling with very, um..."fragrant" sharpies.  Hand cramps and headache like you wouldn't believe.  Not only that, but the lactic acid from the hand cramps combined with the fumes made me nauseous.  BUT IT WAS SOOOO WORTH IT!  I love how this pic came out!  This particular kind of dragon is called a "Lindorm".  Lindorms are serpentine dragons with two legs and a spade-tipped tail.  They're relatively rare dragons.  The only folklore on them I found was in Dragons: A Natural History by Dr. Karl Shuker.  According to Shuker, Lindorms were commonly encountered in churchyards, where they ate human corpses.  The country where Lindorm myths dominate is in Sweden, but there's a fountain in Australia that was inspired by the supposed find of a Lindorm skull.  I highly recomend that any dragon enthusiasts should read Dragons: A Natural History.

I don't think I need to say that my little pink Lindorm hardly has the look of a corpse-eating monstrosity!  I think she's cute.  She's fairly typical of my dragons, both drawings and sculptures.  I try to show the softer side of Dragonkin.  Ferocious dragons are a dime-a-dozen.  (No offense to those who draw ferocious dragons.  You rock!)

That must have driven you dotty (ducks rotten tomatos), you have done a great job here, please keep it up and happy drawing.

:-) Amanda Hosler replies: "i actually like stippling a lot. as long as i don't get carried away and try to do too much at once, it doesn't hurt my hand."
