UPDATE!! New story on this piece, thanks so very much to the highly talented Ashleigh Brooks. xxx. (And I have her full permission to put this story up).

There was a slight tug on the net, the fisherman manning the net glanced lazily over the side of the boat, the veil of boredom that had glazed his eyes was lifted as his mouth opened wide and a surprised yelp escaped his mouth. He closed his eyes then opened them again just to make sure, he sounded the alarm and called the other men over. Flailing widly in the net, thrashing water over her beautifully curved torso and gasping gills was a stunning creature. More gorgeous than any fairytale could ever describe the mermaid's glossy tail shimmered and shined in the sunlight casting azure rays onto the gawking men's faces. A hollow piercing sound escaped her throat as she violently writhed trying to free herself, her helpless eyes stared terrified of the evil men who had captured her. The men leered and smiled malevolently as they began to reel in the net.

So thats her (new) story. I spend ages on this picture, about 2 weeks,  for my dad's birthday on the 24th June. Its A3 sized, thats about 41 x 28cm as I measured it, and compleatly done in coloured crayons. I used a similar technique as in my 'Mermaid and Koi Fish Colour' on her tail and fins, and to be honest I'm really proud of the whole outcome which is not usually what happens with me, and, as I used a new technique to get the skin tones, I'm really happy with it. ^_^

Finished on the 23/06/06. Oh, and just in case you can't tell, the little round yellow and blue things on the side of the boat are limpets and those things on her waist, they are gills (makes sense really).

First fisherman: "Hey fellahs! We’re gonna have a fun time tonight!"
Mermaid: "Oh, how can it get any worse?!"
Second fisherman: "Great! Tomorrow, we can butcher her, and have meat and fish for breakfast!"
Mermaid: "Can it get any worse than this?!"
Third fisherman: "Let’s not be too hasty, boys. Keep her alive, and we can have sushi for a week!"
